MOVING …AGAIN

This is really not funny. It is 10.30pm and my house is in complete chaos. The van is coming at 9am tomorrow and I’m supposed to be ready. I am not. Even my teenage son said, “mum, why have you left everything to the last minute…you should have done this weeks ago”. I tried to tell him that it is generally much more fun to leave things to the absolute last minute, so that everything gets packed into the wrong boxes and you never find it again – nothing wrong with on occassion completly over doing the old adrenalin rush. Once again, I have a ridiculous amount to do.

We dropped the cats off at the cattery a couple of hours ago (they looked absolutely terrified), having had to go via the vets to get them their flu jabs (£75.00!!!!! ridiculous, it’s cheaper to vaccinate humans). Apparently my cats are obese. My 7 year old agrees “look at him, he’s got a double chin, it’s gross”.

My 7 year old asked if he could drink wine tonight because we were celebrating. They are all really pleased to be leaving our rented house (more than I thought they would be). They really have been very good about being here, accepting the situation and getting on with it. It hasn’t been easy for them and they are now really looking forward to having their own rooms and feeling a bit more settled.

I am now going to turn into a nomad for the next few weeks. Maybe I will attempt to find an internet cafe in order to add the odd update. I saw that in Japan, people sleep in them, perhaps that is what I should do. I am not yet sure whether I will have access to a computer in the next few weeks, I should have, I will have to either live at the library or the pub…

At least the guys who are coming to help me move tomorrow are good fun. They have now moved me around most of the area, observing me in various states of life…newly married into the first house, pregnant to the second, obsessed with soft furnishings to the third, bitter, sad and angry to the fourth and now slightly confused to be moving into my sixth house in the area.

I have just worked out that since I was married, I have moved 8 times – not bad….

I do hope you’ll all cope without me…back when I can – I was very exited recently to see that I had two new readers in India, exited that was until my father said “remind me of the population of India again?

I seem to function best when my radar for “how important is this next job?” moves up to sheer panic. I am moving house tomorrow and I have done no packing yet. I should have been packing all weekend, but instead took up an invitation to go to see England beat Samoa in Nantes. What [...]

Far far far too much to do..no time for proper update. Wish I had a full time job that paid me so much money I could afford an extremely efficient nanny. Things to do today: 1. Get cardboard boxes to start packing up house. 6 more days to go. 2. Pack the childrens stuff seperately. [...]

MONDAY MORNING WALK

I love Monday mornings, (any time after 9am that is, when the 7 year old who today is deeply stressed because his bicycle helmet has ruined his hairstyle, has finally gone to school). It is then that I can do one of my most favourite things in the world. I meet up with my very [...]

My brother persuaded me to sign up to Facebook yesterday. He said he’d help me because my 14 year old said “you must be joking” when I asked him. My brother said, “you’ll love it, you’ll meet loads of old friends and have loads of people waiting for you to sign up when you join”. [...]

SEX EDUCATION?

I suspect that it might simply be wishful thinking that makes my 7 year old think he is about to cover sex education. It really seems a little too young to be learning about such things. Thanks to my older children, he is currently obsessed with the facts of life, even if he believes he [...]

According to my 7 year old, Sex Education is on the curriculum for this year. He was terribly excited this morning that it may be today that they start. He is however, concerned that he will laugh. He said he would have to chew his jumper in an effort not to get caught. This was [...]
