"HEDRIN’ THE NEW CURE FOR LICE

If there is one common theme that appears time and time again in the blogs that I read, more than angst with children or uploading photographs it is the curse of the head lice. I have read posts from the UK to The States to Tanzania by parents who are struggling to exterminate the little bastards. Lice have become more prevalent over the years (primarily in girls) both across class and culture for a number of different reasons. Schools seem to have lost their budget for the dreaded “nit nurse”, they also encourage children sit closer together, often in a clump on the floor. In addition parents are failing to do their bit because they are working harder and therefore can’t be arsed to comb their children’s hair quite so regularly and the girls in particular have become more openly affectionate, so hug more and play with each other’s hair.

Today, in “The Times” there is an article about a new way to defeat the enemy. I myself have already proved it to be successful thanks to the advice of a fellow blogger. It is a new product on the market that I mentioned in a previous post called “Hedrin” and it works. Not only does it work but I was delighted to read today that they suffer a hideous demise. Now in general I have Buddhist like qualities when it comes to animals. But with lice? Forget it. I have no sympathy. They simply have to die.

I learnt today that “Hedrin” lotion works on the premise that because lice don’t wee and their faeces are dry they lose fluids through their tracheas. Because It is a silicon based product that is inhaled by lice and forms a plug, they cannot expel any fluids which actually causes them to “explode”. They over-hydrate and blow-up. It doesn’t smell, it leaves your hair lovely and shiny, it is colourless, easy to use and doesn’t involve insecticides.

So hurry up and use it before the little buggers work out a way to release their bodily fluids from a different orifice.

ONE DOWN, TWO TO GO.

It’s ridiculously quiet in my house because I’m missing one child and the dynamics always change hugely as a result. Even if two noisy ones are left. My teenage son has already finished for the summer and is earning some money with his cousin by working in a nursery (vegetable rather than animal)…he is exhausted. [...]

Yesterday I went to watch a polo match. How posh is that? I’ve never been to a polo game before and a very well-connected friend invited me to watch a match for the Asia Cup. Both England and India were fielding teams and the event is part of the Celebrasian Festival (which when you say [...]

MEN AND DIVORCE

Last night I talked a lot with my friend about her brother who is going through a very acrimonious divorce. His wife had an affair and their marriage broke up as a result. He was gutted. I’m sure he still loves her. Both he and his wife work, but for some reason he didn’t get [...]

"SPUTNIK SWEETHEART" BY HARUKI MURAKAMI REVIEW

I’d quite like to meet Haruki Murakami. He sounds like an interesting person and I really enjoyed the style of his writing. He used to run a jazz club and smoke 60 cigarettes a day until he started running. Then he lost weight, stopped smoking and found that he could think more purely about the [...]

My 7 year old came out of school today complaining that he was exhausted. “I’ve got mouth ache from smiling so much” (school photos) and arm ache from all the hard work. Also I have to make a few calls when I get home. We’ve got the school disco coming up and I need to [...]

My blog was meant to be about a woman coping after divorce. But sometimes I feel as if I am not coping and then I feel bad because having to read about miserable people isn’t much fun and I shouldn’t be bothering you with my problems. I was fine until a girlfriend rang me this [...]
