My beautiful daughter made her debut appearance on the catwalk last night at a fashion show held at her school. What a huge amount of talent involved. The outfits were amazingly impressive, using all sorts of different textures to create stunning costumes. The dress my daughter wore was made out of white paper with a fitted bodice and the whole lower part of the dress made with what looked like white roses, made out of rolled up coffee filters. I would love to show you a photograph, but the designs are for their A level art work and might be top secret….
She appeared, in her full length wedding style dress and looked like a beautiful swan. It brought tears to my eyes.
I emailed my family some photos on our return.
My father wrote :-
“She looks breathtakingly beautiful and does more than carry the flame of all the beautiful women (mother, grandmother, great grandmother et al) of whose genetic contributions she’s the present beneficiary”.
My youngest brother wrote:-
“Wow. She looks beautiful. Like mother like daughter. They’re growing up too fast!”
My other brother wrote:-
“What a horrendous dress. She looks like she’s been partially shorn”.
She came home COVERED in glitter. This morning she had managed to transfer most of said glitter to a towel. I can now see that the story which I had thought to be an urban myth could in fact be true. If I had per chance been going to have a smear test this morning my bits would have been all sparkly and the doctor may well have said to me “oh, I see you’ve made a special effort this morning”.

What a proud moment for a mum. Some brothers just don’t get it, do they? My guess is he doesn’t have daughters…

He does – she’s just a bit younger – he’s texted subsequently to say he did still think she looked beautiful!! Lx

I love having a teenage, willowy daughter. She still has hang ups but she has no idea how gorgeous she is.
And I’m just bummed that you didn’t do the glitter thing just to see if the doctor reacted. I’m sure so many people have heard the story that he/she would have stuck to the script.

Sounds gorgeous! I have a brother like that, they don’t get more sensitive as they get older either I’ve found! Dead funny re. the smear test. x

I have to admit I laughed at your ‘other brother’s comment. Only a brother could say that!! Your dad has a lovely way with words though.

I’ve sent an award your way, on my blog. I can see you’ve had it before, but never mind!
