BLOG

My lovely Aussie friends left this morning. I couldn’t drive them to the airport in the end because I still have my 8 year old at home with the lurgy. I’m really sad they’re going and that we’re not going to see them over New Year now in Spain. It would have been great. They have left behind an empty space and the typical travelling Aussie paraphernalia:-

Staple diet:

Funny T-shirt you can’t ever wear:

Funny book everyone should read:

Being all together over the last few days has been wonderful in lots of ways, but inevitably it has also opened up old wounds and brought back painful memories for all of us. My girlfriend cried yesterday as she talked about how sad she was about our situation. They found it especially difficult staying with my ex-husband because his house felt sad. That it was completely devoted to the children and yet he has them there so rarely. It made my heart feel like it was weighted down with sandbags.

ugh that speaking in capitals is enough to try the patience :-P

‘Everybody likes / knows/ does ‘ has to be said with a grin, to be bearable.

With a few exceptions, I hate musicals, especially lmovie musicals. But my wife likes them so there you go.

One man’s musical is another man’s morphine.

I don’t know if it’s your writing or the sheer sadness of the situations you describe but reading your precis of last night brought a tear to my eye. His anger and inability to look you in the eye juxtaposed his delight in the performance. Your keeness to connect but indifference towards the performance. I keep hoping for a spark, connection…..
Anyway, for once I agree with the ex. How can you NOT LIKE MUSICALS!

I know, it’s the capitals that make all the difference isn’t it? Each to their own I say. Lx
