I wouldn’t usually be this boring about products, but being a relatively new recipient of a second cat that can’t go out yet litter trays and what goes in them have become something of an obsession. LUCY LOVES: VASELINE

This is because whilst celebrating my friend’s 50th birthday this morning we were discussing the frustration of which skin care products are best for ageing skin and what regimes we should all be following as we move into a different sort of managing wrinkles kind of phase of life (that is to say it would be better if someone could invent a pain free not-too-hot iron for your face).

My friend declared that she has been told by a dermatologist that we should forget about all the expensive stuff and simply use Vaseline. Around our lips and eyes. Every night….

It was lucky that I clarified that because I thought she meant just smear it on your entire face and then apply your foundation – which would no doubt give an overly shiny, “why is everybody ignoring me?” sort of look.
