Just having a fantastically dysfunctional “putting decorations on the Christmas tree” moment which has culminated in me shouting “oh just FORGET IT – this was meant to be a lovely FAMILY moment”…..teenage son is lying on the sofa being bored and ill and completely not interested and no doubt about to say our Christmas tree decorations “look like someone has been sick all over the tree” like he did last year.
Daughter is busily directing and telling youngest child that there is NO WAY he can put on his hand sewn snowman complete with buttons. “It’s hideous – if you have to put it on then PUT IT ROUND THE SIDE” and then “don’t SWEAR at me” and then just generally arguing.
The four of us are off to see a pantomime tonight just to complete our perfect family pre-Christmas festive moment and I hadn’t realised what a rubbish mother I have been up until now. It’s not something I do annually….it’s not really my thing but this year we have been invited and when I told my youngest son we were going he said “what’s a pantomime?”. Teenage son is obviously deeply disappointed we are not going to Wimbledon to see Pamela Anderson performing.

Isnt it one of lifes little ironies that generally everyone is very happy to help you put up the damm decorations up but come the 6 Jan you are on your own!!!! Enjoy the pantomime its such an English Christmas tradition its so hard to explain it to people who dont know without it seeming bizarre and ridiculous, Go on once you are there a few HES BEHIND YOU and oH YES IT IS and you will be away

oh my…its about expectations and this year…l havent got any, except to expect nada, nought, zilch, then perhaps we can be pleasantly surprised. It goes against the grain of my trying to think positively and keep up the good work Saz. But hey, l’ve even bought myself some gifts for the tree, so l dont feel quite so bloody miserable.
So lets toast each other, and our bah humbugs at home with a virtual G&T…Cheers babe!!

Cheers to you too darling and maybe next year will be better – can’t be much worse in my case, but don’t want to tempt fate – I keep saying that and then it gets even worse!! Lx

Ah, the Christmas decorations, always good for a family ‘discussion’!
It is The Children’s Mother’s son’s 20th birthday today but late last night he was ‘blown out’ by his girlfriend. He is not a happy puppy, he was so looking forward to the next few weeks holiday with her. Being very new to this parenting thing, I sometimes find myself hopelessly ill equipped to help with these situations, limited to the ‘plenty more fish in the sea’ type of support. I’m getting better though, slowly!

That his so sad – he can come over and spend Christmas with us if he wants….Lx

I just blogged about putting the tree up at Pond Parleys. What a bloody palaver – why do we bother?
