CYBERMUMMY CONFERENCE

BLOG

What a great day I had yesterday. The CyberMummy Conference was fab. Just so great to meet lots of my invisible friends in the flesh – especially Expat Mum who flew in from Chicago. It was a huge success and they even managed to get into page two of The Financial Times with a brief mention called the “Power of Blogging Mothers Grows….

“Britain’s “mummy bloggers” are becoming a powerful force in the digital media market with dozens of brands signing up as sponsors of the first official UK conference for the growing numbers of your mothers chronicling their lives online”.

I had to read one of my blog posts out which was a very good way of distracting myself what else was going on….because at precisely the time that I was on stage, my ex-husband was taking his vows for the second time.

Here is a picture of Judith O’Reilly of “Wife In The North” speaking:-

India Knight speaking:-

On my occasional visits to the greater Blogging world it seems that the majority of blogs are written by women so it is good that this is being recognised.

Now perhaps if you all got proper jobs I would have time to get on with my chores! :)

No 1 Daughter has been selected along with her schoolfriend, to attend a week long research project at Durham University organised by the British Science Association ( http://www.britishscienceassociation.org/web/ccaf/crest/ ). The Children’s Mother tells me that it was interesting to note that at the registration session girls out numbered boys 5 to 1! So, contrary to generations of indoctrination, the female of the species does have brains!

Great to meet you too, and bloody well done with your reading. For those not there, this ‘ere blogger got the biggest laugh of the conference!
Saz – I know WITN isn’t the most popular person in the north east for a whole list of reasons but she’s not snotty. I chatted with her about books and publishers etc since we’re both about to start peddling a book around the houses, and she was very down to earth. She was also very funny when she spoke in that she doesn’t apologize for getting a book deal or for making money out of it. Apart from those who were justifiably annoyed with her about her attitude to the north and northerners up there, I do believe that a lot of people were simply jealous of her book deal and thought she didn’t deserve it for some reason.
Anyway, – a great day was had.

I agree with you about WITN – I think got some unfair bad press. She was lovely when I talked to her and very helpful to me when I started my blog up all those years ago. Lx

Your reading of your post was fab..you looked fab. I hope the day did help take your mind off of other things. You should have stayed longer afterwards and had drinks.
Cannot believe it but we were sitting next to each other and I knew it was you…then looked at your name badge ( couldn’t see blog name) and got confused…then you did the reading. Was very annoyed I didn’t go with my instinct. x

Loved your keynote, very funny. Our infamous wigs doubled as hair in dire need of a Brazilian after you spoke. Still laugh if I think about it. Not good in open plan office.
