FEELING DIZZY

BLOG, HEALTH

I went to the doctor this morning. I have been feeling dizzy for the last five days and decided that self-diagnosis was no longer a feasible option.

It’s horrible. I feel as if I’m permanently on a boat – complete with weird head spinning motion when I try and get out of bed.

The first night I had it I got up to go to the loo and boinged off the walls. Couldn’t quite find my balance. Builder Bloke told me he always felt like that after a few glasses of wine and to stop worrying.

But the next day I spoke to my mother:-

“What do you think can be be making me feel dizzy and sick? Especially in the morning?”

…and there was a deafening silence as I realised that I might have just told my mother I was pregnant. CAN YOU IMAGINE!! That would make my complicated life a lot more interesting!

“Ummm….maybe you need some iron or have low blood pressure?” she said, instead of stating the obvious.

Then I decided to google the symptoms of “dizziness” , which is never a good idea. I came to the conclusion that I must have one of three things:- a brain tumour, a stroke or a baby. At this point I decide that the brain tumour is the most appealing option of the three.

So then (having ruled out pregnancy THANK GOD, much to BB’s disappointment) I decide that it must all be due to the stress of my situation. That choosing to get back on the rollercoaster with BB has caused my head to blow up. I clearly can’t cope. Clinging on to the sides for dear life, I just want to shout “STOP!! LET ME OFF!” and go back on the merry-go-round – although that too makes me feel dizzy and sick.

ANYWAY. As you can see, my self diagnosis was causing me some concern and I was beginning to unduly worry. The Dr has made me feel a lot better by telling me I’ve most likely got “Labyrinthitis” – an inflammation of the inner ear. Which is a balance disorder probably caused by a virus I picked up on holiday.

So that’s completely fine then.

Could take months to go away, but at least it’s nothing more sinister……

I had something similar to this many moons ago when I was at college. I thought I was dying from a brain tumour or worse. In fact, it was a virus of the inner ear and the balance goes all wobbly. Very unpleasant but antibiotics cleared it up quickly. (Even when the doctor said it was a virus, I thought, hmmm, it might be a virus AND a brain tumour).

Have you had your thyroid checked out? Seriously it sounds like it might be worth it given the symptoms and all the pressures you’re under

    Hope you feel better soon

don’t take too lightly the effects of stress. Often at work I feel like my desk is sliding, or the room spins. For ages I thought i was ill but now I know it happens when I get stressed. It’s always reassuring when the doctor finds something wrong and give you pills for it :0) You know it’s nothing too bad and it’s going to go away. hope it sorts out quickly x

This has REALLY cheered me up! Very amusing indeed. I have the same symptoms and am very glad I am now clearly not pregant and probably just have an inner ear infection! The you tube clip was my favourite part.
