KEW THE MUSIC REVIEW

BLOG, REVIEWS

I am loving this recent trend for playing music in beautiful settings (or perhaps it’s been going forever and I’ve just got on to it). Kew’s famous glasshouses are one of the most popular features of the glorious Kew Gardens and you can’t find a prettier setting for watching live music as the sun goes down and the lights go up in front of the Temperate House, the largest existing Victorian glasshouse in the world.

I was invited by my lovely school friend to go to Kew The Music where you sit and have a picnic and enjoy the music – in our case we saw both The Noisettes and The Feeling. Excellent night out. Rain stayed away. Bands were brilliant. Sophie Ellis Bexter, made a brief but lovely appearance. Although my friend kept saying “aaah, don’t they make a lovely couple, aren’t they so in love” whilst watching her singing her duet with Dan Gillespie, the lead singer of The Feeling, I kept saying “no, he’s gay, they’re not an item”, she’s married to the bassist, but she wouldn’t believe us. Even googled “lead singer of The Feeling” and immediately the word “gay” is added to the end of the sentence and she still wasn’t having it.

Just look at this glorious setting. They’ve got Blondie playing tomorrow evening. Loads of choice of music throughout the week and they really do need the support to keep their amazing conservation programme going. You must get tickets next year.

Look how you can see the plants inside the Kew glasshouse as the light is fading:-

Then it all went pink and green:-

Don’t they make a lovely couple?
