I have made a huge mistake by going on our family summer holiday WAY too early. Now kids all BOOOOOOORED with nothing to do and I can’t be arsed to rush around in manner of alpha parent taking them to museums and art galleries.
OBVIOUSLY, I would normally behave like that but I still have this really strange thing called Labyrinthitis (or benign postural vertigo) which is making me feel terrible – dizzy and unbalanced. The most worrying thing about it is that my children don’t seem to have noticed me staggering about and bouncing off walls from time to time in manner of completely drunk person….clearly used to seeing me like that!
I have been back to the doctor and insisted on antibiotics even though he has told me that they won’t work. They worked for my blog mate Dumdad so they will hopefully work for me. I told him I had to have a go because I have to go back to work next week and attempting to teach a class where I keel over every time I do a spinal roll just won’t work. I’m slightly concerned to see though that some people end up having it for years! That better not be the case. Not sure I could cope.
My father said that he didn’t see why I couldn’t just incorporate it into my routine……which is frankly getting more comical by the minute – I can just see it now “elderly pilates teacher, with no core strength and a propensity to get cramp halfway through a leg stretch now interestingly adds a strange twirly spacial dance that involves several stumbles and a fall onto the floor”. Hmmm. Might just work.

I wasn’t suggesting I knew more than a doctor! But that’s what worked for me. Perhaps it was a different ailment? Anyway, fingers crossed that you’ll be better soon.

Well, I just wondered if they did it differently in France? More generous with their antibio’s perchance?? Lx

BPPV – benign paroxysmal positional vertigo is not much fun but apart from the risks associated with bouncing off walls, it’s not going to kill you and antibiotics probably won’t help.
I’m sure you’ve read all about it on wiki etc.
Have a look at the Brandt-Donoff technique to help manage the condition.
I had a couple of occasions when BPPV made me unbelivebly sea sick and dizzy. My GP sent me off to an ENT man who showed me how to use the technique. When you get the hang of it you can sort yourself out within a day or less.
Good luck.

Yucky thing to have! I’ve had it twice, but my GP sent me to a clinic at the local hospital who gave me a medicine that stopped the dizziness (and hence nausea) until it passed. Have you tried that already? Sorry I can’t remember what it was. Not much help really, am I?

Yes, sort of stematil but not that – it didn’t really help, but I might try them again – should ease the nausea I guess Lx
