REVIEWS

I suggest that you avoid this film at all costs. It has had some good reviews, but in my humble opinion it is truly awful. A ridiculously cliched film with not a convincing actor in sight (apart from the 18 dogs used in the film obviously). It pulls at the heart strings big time, but again, only because of the saccharine way the dog is portrayed. Owen Wilson is unconvincing and when he bumps in to a mate who took a different path in life and they have nothing to say to each other (because he bores him stupid about his children and his dog) I thought what a terrible life message he has just presented – be a boring bastard and you will be happy and content once you get over your midlife crisis as long as you have a mad dog and three children to cement the whole thing together.

In this case I have to echo my daughter’s recent sentiments and reiterate that “that was a total waste of two hours of my life”.

The kids quite enjoyed it though, which I suppose was the point.

I have resigned myself to the fact that if I take kids to a kid movie, I’m probably not going to enjoy it. Like “Hotel for Dogs” which the little nd middle ones loved, but I almost fell asleep in. Ah well – that’s what we parents do eh?
