BLOG, KIDS

Today is the final day of voting for the “Best Of Blogs 2007″ awards. I would just like to thank all of you who voted for me – it is still a complete surprise to me to find myself in a list of top 10 “Mother’s Who Blog” finalists. “PunkRockMommy” is the clear winner, which was the right result.

Below, I just thought I’d put down a few random thoughts about what it means to be a mother. It is easy to forget that when our children are born, so are we. We only existed as women before that, being a mother is something completely new to us too:-

Top 10 list of things a mother should know:

- How to make a decent packed lunch by successfully managing to disguise healthy foods with a desire to actually eat it.
- How to make a costume for a nativity play
- How to console your children when they are hurt without blaming your partner and/or another child/parent
- First aid ranging from cut knee to suffocation and CPR.
- When to stop asking questions
- When to start asking questions
- How to cook
- How to delegate
- When to let them go
- When to take them back

..and if in doubt, just talk bollocks – they’ll never know.

“When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.”
Sophia Loren

and finally…because no matter what our situations are or how difficult our life is, our children will always be our children and I wouldn’t want it any other way. There is a Moroccan proverb that says:

“In the eyes of it’s mother every beetle is a gazelle”.

Aren’t our children lucky they’ve got us?

I wish I’d known about the nativity costume thing – all I can say is Thank God for Tesco and their angel costumes!

Or is that just me? God bless you dear. Thanks for your support. Good going on the Best of Blog award. All my love, Andrea
