MY DRESS SHALL GO TO THE BALL

My dress has gone to the Debutante Ball – The Queen Charlotte’s Ball – started in 1780, and resurrected tonight after a 12-year hiatus – which is as close as I’ll ever get to going to ball like that.

My friend who is covering the event for a magazine has borrowed it. This is not the first time she has borrowed something of mine to go somewhere REALLY glamorous and gorgeous. I have asked her if it’s possible, that next time she lets me sneak in with her inside one of my dresses…

I’m not entirely sure why the ball has been reinstated. I think it’s more about raising money for charity these days than it is finding a husband – raising money for the West London Maternity Hospital of the same name.

They will be genuflecting to Duchess of Somerset and Princess Olga Romanov, a descendent of the Russian Imperial family. What a completely bizarre idea.

    Sounds very posh indeed!

The last ball I went to was at University and I suspect it was nowhere near as civilised.
