"NEVER GIVE UP"

BLOG

Having a great time in Cornwall despite the weather….not sure about this exercise business though. We’re running for half an hour every morning and it’s not easy. Last night my serious running friends were giving me top tips on how to improve my performance. The only one I can remember (because we were on the Jack Daniels by then) was no matter how hard it is “NEVER GIVE UP” and I was thinking, but I thought that was the smoking motto, not the running motto.

The kids are all having a wonderful time. They are all surfing – the weather is shite, but it’s the best surf they’ve had here for months so everybody’s happy and I have to say that I’m not sorry I haven’t had to spend my whole day in a maze of stripey windbreak thingys trying to find my friends.

Still thinking charities and as you all so rightly say it is a very personal thing. On second thoughts though I’m wondering if it’s better to raise money for Africa or Asia or something on a bigger scale. Will keep on thinking. At least just the thinking about it is getting me through the training.

I’ve lived in North Cornwall for 20 years and I have never known weather like it in all that time. Even when Boscastle flooded the rain didn’t go on this long, day after day. I do feel sorry for all you’s on holiday here. Hell, I feel sorry for us, too!!

I hear it might cheer up a bit for some of the weekend, though.

I’e found that the problem with the bigger scale ones is that everything gets lost in the system. With the bigger organisations, there’s a lot of admin and some of the money gets lost in there.
As I said, far better to make an impact on something smaller; an organisation that probably doesn’t get a lot of money to start with. I’ve honed my funding in on a school in Ghana, and the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis over here because I have personal connections to both. I raised about $4,500 for the Ghana school in May (sponsored walk) and they were able to roof the entire ground floor that they were building.

I’d go with Punk Rock Mommy. I just caught up with his blog and Kelly is doing it really tough.

I keep meaning to start running. I cannot face the thought of having to get out of bed extra early though! (Before little ones emerge…)
