Well that was a pretty contentious decision – awarding Obama with the Nobel Peace Prize. Presumably this was based more on future promise than achievement so far.
I’m really not sure what I think about it, but it seems premature to me and will certainly add a little more unwelcome criticism than he needs at the moment. He has indeed “captured the world’s attention and given it’s people a hope for a better future” but is that enough? He has already done much in the way of human rights – banning torture and closing Guantanamo, but surely you can’t give a world leader the peace prize after less than a year in office?
What happens if he agrees to increase the number of soldiers America has in Afghanistan? What happens if he doesn’t achieve his vision of a nuclear free world? What happens if his plans for climate change are rebuffed?
He still has much to do and much to prove.
My choice would have been somebody who works far more behind the scenes like maybe Dolly Parton.

As much as I think Obama is a force for good, I really don't agree with him getting the peace prize. Yeah, he closed Guantanamo but then his country created it in the first place! I think they should have waited til he has done his work before awarding it. I'm sure there are many other people who would have equally deserved it.

I did think it was a bit premature, I thought maybe I'd missed something.

If you could feel the vibes over here right now, I think he deserves nuch more than this for just getting himself elected as the first – sharp intake of breath- black President. It is venoumous.
