BLOG, KIDS

My Grandmothers obituary was in the paper yesterday. How compassionate are my children? It wasn’t until they read the bit that mentioned their names that they responded…”oh cool!! We’re in the paper! We’re actually in the paper! Wow”…and I was thinking “you’re slightly missing the point here”.

My father wants me to do a speech at her funeral which won’t be easy. She was one of the most independent women I know because for all the time I’ve known her she’s been on her own. However, she always managed to get the men in her life to look after her and I don’t think she’s ever had to lift a finger to do anything for herself. She somehow always managed to get somebody else to do it for her. Does that mean she was a feminist? Or completely the opposite? Or was it just that she knew instinctively how best to play the game…

Sounds like your grandmother was an amazing woman. You will do a great job speaking at her funeral. Just speak from the heart. She also sounds like a woman that knew exactly how to live and live life to the fullest!!
