Don’t you just love the London Marathon? 36,000 runners all with their own story to tell. It makes me cry. So inspirational. We were there today. A group of us. To cheer on my friend. “It’s all your fault – write that in your bloody blog” she said to me yesterday. But you know what? I take full responsibility. We jumped up and down and cheered her on at around the 19 mile mark and I’ve got a photo of her and she looked SO happy and I’m so proud of her – she finished at just over 5 hours. A real achievement.
“I’ve got to look out for Mud”, I told my friend. “Who’s Mud?” she said. “Oh, one of my blogging friends” I told her. “What does she look like?” she asked me. But of course I had no idea. So although I carried on looking, I think I missed her.
We set off early this morning. “Oh my god” said my 8 year old. “Look at your feet!! What have you done to them, they look terrible – look at those disgusting bumps!”. “They always look like this”, I told him, debating whether to blame years of marathon running for the state of my feet.
We got on a very packed tube and then he very loudly said “are WE actually going to be running the marathon then?”.

If you were at mile 19 you might have heard my band drumming. Each year we play for the runners, and it always used to make me cry because they ran past clapping us. Can’t be there anymore, now I live abroad, but oh, I miss it.

I could no more run that than fly to the moon. I am in awe of everyone who even tries.

I used to watch the Chicago Marathon and loved it. Such dedication.
P.S. Apologies but I’ve tagged you in my last post, Mary Poppins.

Thanks for the cheering! Your friend did brilliantly. I was the lame person in the pink vest – easy to spot eh?
