THEN there is the whole other issue of how my children will deal with their three new step-siblings. SO WEIRD for them to suddenly double their numbers. My daughter is going to be the only girl. Good and bad. I suspect.
My nine year old came back from his weekend with his new family wearing a hideous pink and green plastic bracelet. “It’s a shag band” he told me. “My new step brother has told me that I have to keep it on and that if it breaks I have to have sex with someone”.
Bloody hell. It’s this sort of thing that is going to be a nightmare to manage.

So that’s what they are! The husband’s got one and has spent the entire week trying to snap it with his teeth while giving me the eye…

I was 14 when my father remarried and I gained two stepsisters. Altogether, we were four girls, aged 13, 14, 16 and 16. And we all lived together full-time. Some major adjusting involved. But honestly, I think it was more good than bad suddenly to be one of four. My older sister struggled a lot more, as the two eldest girls were both used to being in charge and had some turf issues.
Now, dealing with the stepmother . . . that sucked.

I agree, stepmother’s on the whole are rubbish (my first was the definition of evil). Step sister was fine until she was near her mother and then she acted up to get attention. Its not easy, but it depends on how your ex deals with things. Having a stepmum when you are in your twenties, now that’s much better!

Don’t worry too much about these bands and other nonsense – there will be others, worse and better. Your family is too strong to let outside influences matter much in the long run.
Love muuummmmmeeee’s comment.
