STILL ILL

BLOG

I’m off for a few days – attending my grandmother’s funeral. Feeling suitably ill and depressed and January-ish. Children alarmingly excited about missing school and more concerned with what they will be wearing – my daughter has appeared in three different outfits this evening.

Finally, my children found some sympathy (for me). I lay in bed this afternoon feeling sorry for myself and suddenly my daughter appeared with a bit of lemon cake (mangled) and my 7 year old appeared with a cold cup of tea with about 25 teaspoons of sugar. Sweet. It did take quite a lot of me stropping around before I got the desired reaction – I had to tell them that I thought they were all hugely selfish as couldn’t even be bothered to ask me how I am let alone if I needed anything….

Oh well, a mother’s lot. Sometimes I wish I still had a husband to look after me.

Poor you, Lulu, it doesn’t sound like the best of times. I do remember that feeling that, on balance, you’re better off looking after yourself – though wouldn’t it be luvverly to have someone to do the pampering? Love and good wishes for your recovery. Margot xx
