THE SECRET TO A HAPPY MARRIAGE

BLOG, KIDS

There is an article in the paper today entitled “The secret to a happy marriage: no children”. Lots and lots of research has been done on this subject by a professor of psychology at Harvard University. He told a conference in Sydney that “children do seem to increase happiness while you’re expecting them, but as soon as you have them, trouble sets in”.

Well, I hope he hasn’t invested too much time and effort in coming to this conclusion. I could have told him that for free. Particularly in light of the fact that I have just received a phone bill for over £300.00 – this time I’m putting my foot down. My son has run up an enormous bill talking to a girl I’ve never heard of (only found that out because I threatened to phone the number to see which one of my children was responsible for paying me back) and my daughter has run up an equally large bill talking to her friend.

Still, at least it’s a way of finding out that son clearly has a girlfriend.

Don’t let ‘em see this, but I once spent 70 pounds on a single phone call to a girl on the other side of the world.

We have now been married more than 21 years.

I can certainly relate. We have all three of our kids’ cell phones on our bill…it’s like the national debt!

Wow, I think I should start a savings plan for the cell phone bill in addition to the college fund. Wow. That’s staggering.

Congratulations on Post of the Day at David’s!

    Oooooooooh!
Have they never heard of skype? Or one of those dial-around numbers that give you international calls for a few cents? (2 Euro cents to call the USA from Vienna, for example).
Yes children, love’em, pay their phone bills! :-) ))
