BLOG

Oh dear. How spectacularly wrong is it going for Tiger Woods. Who is the unknown blonde that has been admitted to hospital via ambulance a few hours ago? The Sun headlines today revealed a 7th “transgression” with a blonde porn star. He needs to change his name to Tiger Woody (although you may only get that if you’re reading this in Australia).

Dominic Lawson wrote about him in The Times this weekend. He said “what is not interesting about Tiger Woods is that he has been unfaithful to his wife – just like millions of other apparently happily married men every day”. Well, I beg to differ. Not only do I think it is the most interesting bit but I don’t believe that “happily married” men have affairs. If they were happy in their marriage and deeply in love with their wife, they wouldn’t do it. Simple as that.

He might be doing it “because he can”, but even that doesn’t explain his behaviour. We can all do it if we want to can’t we?

Dominic Lawson finishes his article by saying that we “shouldn’t be in the least bit bothered about what someone called Tiger Woods gets up to at night. As the man himself said, it is a private matter” – so private that Mr Lawson has to write a whole article about how uninteresting it is.

This is a typically male response in my opinion. Men don’t like talking about things like extra-marital affairs and think it should be kept quiet and behind closed doors. Again, speaking from experience, women want to talk about their situation and take advise, hire hitmen, see lawyers. I for one had to discuss what I was going to do about my husband’s affair with anyone that cared to listen.

It might be a private matter, but we are still entitled to have an opinion and my opinion is this. He has done something unbelievably selfish without any regard for anyone else. He has publically humiliated his wife at best, destroyed her at worst. He is no doubt in a bad place himself and I feel very sorry for everybody involved.

Before, I could never quite believe that successful men and/or women could be so utterly stupid as to not see what’s round the corner when being unfaithful, to not think about what would happen if they got caught out, but now I don’t believe it’s about what’s round the corner – even if they had a periscope or a crystal ball they’d do it anyway, because it’s dangerous and fun and much more interesting than being married and they can’t quite help throwing in a grenade, just to see what happens because they don’t quite care enough.

    Dominic Lawson is plain wrong.

The Tiger Woods affair(s) is extraordinary and gets more so each day. How many women was he shagging? He believed he could do exactly as he pleased because everyone said he was the greatest man on the planet. He is almost the greatest ever in golf (Jack Nicholas is still ahead of him in majors won and longevity) but he’s been a dull boy off the golf course; his interviews are yawnarama times.

A man’s private life stays private as long as it is private – Tiger made his very public by crashing his car in the early hours after rowing with his wife. If it had been a case of just that, he could easily have held a press conference, stated they’d had a domestic tiff but had now kissed and made up. But it appears he’s been a serial shagger while away from home.

Sorry, Tiger, I love your golf but this is cynical behaviour and the honeymoon is well and truly over.

I ranted about this today on Powder Room Grafitti – why do these men think only with their you-know-what’s? How can such high profile men possible think they won’t get caught at some point? Apparently the woman taken to the hospital is his mother-in-law, and it is transpiring here that he was under the influence of painkillers, sleep tablets and had been drinking earlier. Legally, hospitals are not allowed to disclose your medical information without your consent, so no one really knows and no one seems to be interested in charging him with driving under the influence of anything.
I really feel sorry for his wife because the joke here was that she’d smashed the car windows before he drove off. Now it turns out that he was only semi-conscious when he crashed the car and that was the only way to get to him.
I think he has a serious addiction.

That, of course, should have read Jack Nicklaus, not Nicholas. End of the day tiredness! (My excuse but really just sloppiness).

Having watched what unfaithfulness can do to those impacted by it, it should be talked about and the effect on that family shown so hopefully, perhaps, one man might think about not following his base instincts

Tiger Woods is going to blow up in 2011. I don’t think all of this publicity is hurting him at all.

Many of them are not needed, only used as a regular web browser, like Facebook, for example, alternatively of a smaller version of the iPhone to use … :)
