BLOG

FINALLY, somebody sensible replies. My OTHER cousin in Canada has sent a list of emergency items required. So in case any of you need to know what to put in the back of your car, here goes:-

“I have in the back of my car:-

booster cables;
a shovel
a blanket
torch
bag of sand

For the teenagers, their recommended winter driving survival kit list includes:

Ice scraper/snowbrush
Shovel
Sand or other traction aid
Tow rope or chain
Booster cables
Road flares or warning lights
Gas line antifreeze
Flashlight and batteries
First aid kit
Fire extinguisher
Small tool kit
Extra clothing and footwear
Blanket
Non-perishable energy foods – e.g., chocolate or granola bars, juice, soup,
bottled water
Candle and a small tin can
Matches

You can use kitty litter but makes a mucky mess. Best advice – watch it
from inside with a glass of wine but if you have to go out make sure your
clothing is appropriate ‘cos it’s miserable to have to walk far if you have
cold feet. Or you sit in your car and eat the chocolate bar :)

I laughed at your request – we are presently buried in over 2 feet of snow -
should actually take a picture for you”.

So there we are – a proper Canadian list – now you know – although I don’t know what booster cables are or where you buy them and WHY would you need a fire extinguisher? Where’s a fire suddenly going to start?

Oh my snow, i wouldn’t know the first thing. Sounds like fun and also alot of work.
NOW i see the ellies, so clever what you’ve done with the colors, and such a great photo! I’ve had a great time looking at your safari photos, they are really nice. We just missed each other, in May we were across the river in Zimbabwe. I’ve got several posts (and several photos) also, it was hard to narrow down photos to show, I took over 3 thousand!
stay warm safe in that snow!

Booster cables are for jump starting a car, you can buy them at Halfords (well, you could if you could get there!!) And if a sudden fire starts, in this weather, why the hell would you want to put it out??!
