Today is better than yesterday because I haven’t got vomit raining down on my head from a great height (or from a bunk bed anyway).
My son was feeling completely better yesterday and consequently went to school – he had a concert – “Young Voices 2009″ at the O2 that he really didn’t want to miss. I on the other hand, although not wishing him ill was quite hoping that the Norovirus would at least do me the favour of rendering me unable to go to a two and a half hour concert of children singing. In theory, it is always my idea of hell on earth.
However, actually, once there, in reality, what better way to lift one’s spirit than to hear the sound of 1000′s of children’s voices all singing in unison. Just gorgeous, spine tingly, tear to the eye sort of emotion. It gives you hope for the future – well, they are the future and look what fun they think that future should be:-

Australia – yes well, you’d have to go on your own, sans kids because there’s no way your ex would let you take them and the governments won’t let one parent abscond with them. And even if you did abscond with them, many countries have a reciprocal arrangement whereby they’d put you on the next plane back to your original country. Sadly, the countries that really need this (ie. more third world, where kids are kidnapped from one or other parent all the time) don’t have these agreements in place.
Anyway, Plan B?
And far better to look like a vagina only when your face is warped. Imagine looking like that in real life?

My older two both did Young Voices at the Manchester MEN on 1st December last year. We were reminiscing this morning about it! It was fantastic and I had tears pouring down my face from the minute I walked into the arena and saw those thousands of kids all with their T-shirts on, until the very last song! In fact your photo has brought tears to my eyes all over again! (What an emotional wuss I am *grin*) I’m so glad you and your son didn’t miss that experience.

Nice one – was wondering why your small boy absent today. So when my one starts puking I will know who to blame!

I’m glad he went. As a small child, when life was in black and white, I was involved in something similar in Liverpool. I can still remember the words of the songs “Music Makers” and “Cargoes” that we sang, and get goosebumps at the memory of it all. I bet his day will stay with both of you.
