Woke up to a very spooky, foggy London, which merely highlighted the spookiness of the Halloween night before. Everything seemed muffled and peaceful everywhere. Spiders webs galore, all glistening in the early morning dew. So beautiful and SO MUCH MORE impressive than the pretend webs thrown all over the place […]

Oh dear. It was a very tired little tiger that let himself in at 7.30am this morning, still covered in orange paint and black stripes but looking a little worse for wear.
He’d been having a great time, but at around 2am whilst outside tying his shoelace with his phone in his mouth somebody stole it and ran off. He consequently lost all his friends and had to get the night bus home. He then predictably fell asleep on the bus for what must have been hours because not only did he miss his stop, he didn’t wake up when the bus got to it’s destination and was still on it when he woke up back in Central London three hours later! Then he had to get a tube from Piccadilly with all the children on their way to school still looking like a tiger. By the time he arrived home, I was beside myself because I hadn’t been able to reach him and was in the process of trying to contact his friends.
My bath and towels are now orange and he is crashed out on the sofa having had to report it to the police.
I know he was careless, but why is it a given that our children are routinely mugged for their phones in London these days? And why aren’t bus drivers allowed to wake them up?
It took him four hours to get home in the end…..

I’m feeling a little bit aware that perhaps my days of “Trick or Treating” with the children are over. Another milestone bites the dust. In years gone by, a group of us would all have had a Halloween tea followed by endless traipsing around all the local houses with a bag of loot trying to stop all the children from getting squashed by a car when the light of a pumpkin or a skeleton in the window of a house opposite overruled their knowledge of the Green Cross Code. This year my 11 year old went off with some friends in full scary Halloween costume, my daughter went off down the road with her friends – all dressed as “glitterballs” for some strange reason and I sat in with a huge bowl of sweets waiting for NOT one little person to knock on the door. Where have they all gone? Devastated. WHAT am I going to do with all those little packets of Maltesers now?? It is dangerous to leave me in the house alone with them.
My teenage son and three of his mates have just gone off to a Halloween party at a club in London. They decided to dress up as that particularly famous, well known Halloween character – The Tiger. They are now covered in orange face paint and have successfully and systematically managed to smear orange streaks around my house. They’ve been trying to find out how to paint their faces in style of “bloke Tiger stripes” rather than “Simple stripes for 8 year olds”.
My google search in the last 10 minutes is like this:-
Very simple Tiger stripes face paint
Tony the Tiger
Tiger Face paint
Blokey tiger stripes
Here they all are looking particularly scary:-
